The Boleside Pools

Meeting Pool

Situated at the top of the beat where the Ettrick water meets the River Tweed, the Meeting Pool is fished off the left bank and fishes best when the river is under 2' 0" on the gauge. bolesidestream.

Rink Stream

Lying downstream from the A7 (T) road bridge, Rink Stream is best fished from the left bank when the river is under 2' 0" on the gauge and also fishes well from the right bank when over 2' 0".

Putts

Putts fishes well when the river is over 1' 8" on the gauge. The pool is a good holding pool and is fished from both banks although usually from the left bank.

Hedge End

Fishes best from the left bank when the river is between 1' 10" and 3' 10" on the gauge.

Upper Gardenback

Upper Gardenback fishes well in low water when the water is under 1' 8" on the gauge. The pool is usually fished by wading out from the left bank.

Gardenback

Gardenback is best fished when the river is between 1' 6" and 3' 0" on the gauge. The pool is fished by wading out from the left bank.

Boat Pool

Despite its name, the pool is mainly fished from the left bank and not from a boat. The pool fishes best when the river is between 1' 8" and 3' 0" on the gauge, although the tail end of the pool can be fished up to 4' 0".

Glenmayne

Glenmayne is normally fished out of the boat lying on the right hand side of the pool. The pool fishes well when the gauge reads between 2' 0" and 3' 0".

Hart Pool

Normally fished from the right bank, this pool fishes best when the river is about 1' 8" on the gauge.

Netherbarns Pool

Fishes best when the river is over 2' 0" on the gauge and is fished from the left bank when wading or  from the right bank from the boat
